The government commissioned the Mathew Taylor report to ensure that the UK labour market can protect the rights of workers. This was the first such review of this kind internationally and was published in July 2017.
Many of the Taylor reports recommendations were accepted in 2018, which lead to 4 consultations.

As a result of these consultations, from 6th April 2020 all new employees and workers have a right to a statement of the particulars of their assignment on their very first day of work. This Key Information Document is commonly known as “KID”. More information can be found on the government website.
